The Galery in ARTNET
Lluis Rizzo was born in the working class neighbourhood of Sants on the 1st August 1959, fifteen minutes after his brother Jose. He worked whenever his studies allowed it, at first, he used lead pencils and charcoal, and later with pens, pastels, felt-tips, oils, watercolours etc.
In 1986, half way between the birth of his two sons (in 1984 and 1988) he painted a hyperrealist painting of the actor Klaus Kinsky, which opened doors for him, and this enabled him to become a full time artist.
His illustrations have been published in more than 40 countries around the world. During this time he also spent the little spare time he had holding exhibitions in Begues or Barcelona, although his first international exhibition was not until 1999.
After years of experimenting he found the ideal technique with which to combine everything that he had learnt: inks, oils, pastels, charcoal, watercolours, acrylic textures... he worked with paint brushes, air brushes, palette knives, coloured pencils, different types of paint rollers or rubbers - anything would do - a cutter, a toothbrush, a dog brush belonging to his dog or even a jigsaw.
In 2006 he exhibited in the Trino Tortosa Gallery in Almeria and it was in that heavenly light that he found the peace and tranquility that had eluded him for so long. And following the Meditarranean trail, at present he is working with Sammer Gallery, Puerto Banus, Marbella. His dream, at the moment is to depict his other great love, music. His big project is to capture the feelings that the great classic music works evoke in him, from Bach (his first work in this series - Prelude - which was inspired by Suite No.1 for cello and which is exhibited in the gallery) to Stravinsky and of course Beethoven.
