Alberto Lombardo

Alberto Lombardo was born in Messina on December 25, 1953. At age 17 he moved with his family to Turin where he began his artistic career.

Lombardo travelled around the world for several years: America, Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Greece, Holland, France and Germany. The experience of his pilgrimage in these countries leaves a deep impression on his art and determines his artistic vocation.

In 1994, Lombardo arrived in Tenerife and decided to settle in the island. There he met and visited quite often the canary sculptor and painter Arnold Evora, and the painter from Madrid Carlos Sanz. He made several items and decided to devote himself exclusively to the development of his art, through which and different techniques that he himself developed, managed to express his particular worldview.

In November 1996 in the San Francisco Park in Puerto de la Cruz the first exhibition of the artist was organized and his works were defined by critics as an expression of magical surrealism. After this exhibition, several of his works were purchased by local people and some Germans, being Germany and Spain the only two European countries where there some of the artist’s works at the time.

In the months of August and September 1997, the painter had a second exhibition of his own, giving it the title "La Puerta del Cubismo Mágico" (The Door to the Magic Cubism), where Lombardo showed several techniques that were more pleasing to the public, allowing the introduction of his works to other European countries such as Finland, Italy and France. The exhibitions and his works aroused the curiosity and criticism in various media articles locally and internationally.

Lombardo has developed a unique technique of color with which he generates an internal fantasy in anyone who is enjoying it. His art is three-dimensional, lasting, therapeutical. There is an exciting blend of cultures. Each work carries a particular message in its own picturesque language.
