Claudia Hecht

In art few attempt and even fewer accomplish the transcendent:
Works that become iconic images that people identify with and treasure as their own cultural heritage.
Mexican artist Claudia Hecht, internationally acclaimed and winner ofprestigious awards including the ?International Artist of the Year award for 2014? presented by Prince Lorenzo De Medici at an annual gala at the Italian Embassy in Washington D.C. is quickly becoming famous for her masterful iconic works in both painting and sculpture.
Born in Mexico City and residing in Guadalajara, Claudia Hecht is creating her own art movement entitled ?Pictorial Sculpture?. Having spent a lifetime dancing, the movement and grace of dance often finds its way into her work.
Her paintings are in her own unique style; translucent oils on 24k gold leaf applied to a gessoed canvas and mounted on a wood panel.
This technique that she developed creates an exotic and rich elegance in her works and is a style that is uniquely her own.
She paints in three primary themes: geometric figures, modern interpretations of primitive images and sensual figures.
?I generally begin my painting with a simple sketch without knowing before what it will become. As I start painting, I let the art work talk to me and tell me what it wants to be and as it flows towards completion the image is revealed. I stop when I feel that everything is balanced in harmony and the painting has achieved its own magic.? The resulting works explore the subjects of: spiritual awakening, important turning points in life and colorful abstract compositions.
The underlying purpose in her artwork is to create a beautiful experience that elevates the mood of the viewer.
Her contemporary primitive art brings to the present a vibrant view into our distant cultural heritage and in them she enjoys mixing influences from Mayan, Aztec, African and Asian art because ?I find in them a purity of human expression?.
Her abstract geometric paintings speak to the viewer with a conversation that changes according to the position the viewer observes it from.
She often combines sculpture and painting where she sculpts figures into the frame of the painting as well as adding texture to the painting with hand embossing.
Her sculptures follow the themes of Her paintings: primitive shaman, whimsical abstract shields, benches and turning normal objects into creative works of fantasy.
In short, she creates dream works that become and enhance reality.
